Plant Protection That Works! 

In principle, we all love bunnies and deer, but when either of these animals (or both!) appear in your garden to ravage your carefully tended edible and ornamental plants, they cause havoc. A great solution is to apply Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit Repellent spray, the best animal deterrent we have found.  

Strong smelling when sprayed on foliage, the scent and taste deterring formula repels critters before they feed. Once the foliage dries, there is no detectable odor, but plants remain unpalatable. The non-toxic formula won't harm animals or plants.   

To use liquid fence, spray it liberally on plants in dry weather, completely wetting foliage. Repeat application one week later, then once a month. Spray again after significant rain. Deer and rabbits’ aversion to this product doesn’t diminish over time – you can keep using the spray all season. Easy to apply with our Multi-Use Pump Sprayer.

Even longtime gardeners can be intimidated by drip irrigation systems, but this well-made kit is the answer; it is truly a one-stop solution for watering! Everything you need for installing drip irrigation in two to three 4’ x 8’ raised beds is included.

Potting Tray With Endless Uses

It’s no fun to clean up spilled potting mix when you are actively gardening, and this handy tray solves the problem once and for all. We’ve had ours for over 20 years and are so pleased to discover a good supplier so we can now offer them! Made from recycled polypropylene, this lightweight but tough tray is large enough so you can set both empty pots and a bag of potting soil in it to fill pots; move started seedlings into larger containers; fill seed starting trays or mix water or amendments into dry potting mix. Any loose or excess soil falls into the tray, so it’s easy to scoop up with no loss and no mess.

Our potting tray is dirt and water resistant and cleans quickly with a spritz of water from a hose. Tip: we store gloves, trowels, etc. in the potting tray at the end of the day so we will know where to find everything ready to go!

Captain Jack’s Liquid Copper Fungicide offers organic gardeners a safe way to control fungal diseases that affect vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit trees, and shrubs. It is effective on black spot, rust, early and late blight, powdery and downy mildew, peach leaf curl and many other common garden diseases (see below). 

Captain Jack’s is approved for organic gardening and can be applied up to the day of harvest. We rely on it for controlling powdery mildew and other diseases that attack cucumbers, squash, zucchinis, pumpkins, melons and flowers such as zinnias, coreopsis and hollyhocks in the middle and end of summer. Unfortunately for home gardeners, birds of many kinds love young seedlings and baby plants. Sometimes they eat them, but they also frequently just pull them out! It’s frustrating, especially after all the work we’ve put into raising tender young plants. The best way to keep birds out is by exclusion. We use and recommend reusable Bird X protective netting.

Made in the USA, this high-quality, heavy duty 5/8-inch polypropylene mesh holds up because it has UV inhibitors, does not tear easily and holds up over time. It’s an excellent product that ensures protection for both tiny seedlings and young plants of vegetables, flowers and herbs in your garden beds.

Simply stretch the bird netting tautly over supports to hold it above the seedlings. We recommend using pliable irrigation tubing (aka poly tubing) bent into hoops over the bed so it holds the netting securely 12-15 inches above the plants. Even if birds land on it, they won’t be able to push it down and peck at your plants.
