Gourd - Luffa

Gardener’s Notes: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last spring frost or sow directly outdoors when night temperatures are above 50°F (10°C). Can be grown in rows or hills like pumpkins in fertile, well-drained soil. Train on a tall trellis or fence to save space and keep fruit clean. Harvest when small to eat as a vegetable - or let the fruits mature on the vine. Then harvest when skin turns yellow and cure in a warm, well-ventilated place. Peel away the skins and shake out the seeds to use as sponges.
