Gardener’s Notes: Best to start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before the last spring frost in a container of seed-starting mix. Space seeds 1-2 inches apart and ¼ inch deep. Or direct sow in early spring as soon as soil can be worked. Thin or transplant small seedlings to recommended spacing when large enough to handle. Plants need a rich, well-drained soil in full sun. Hardy in USDA Zones 4-9.
